As part of the farming and crop protection industry’s Voluntary Initiative to minimise the environmental impacts of pesticides, UAP are once again holding a number of practical workshops that are eligible for both the National Register of Sprayer Operators (NRoSO) and the BASIS Professional Register.

As well as accommodating arable farmers, UAP are able to offer workshops specifically tailored for fruit growers. Through these workshops UAP's dedicated fruit agronomy specialists aim to ensure that their top and soft fruit growers are adequately trained to use and store pesticides responsibly.

Training is becoming a more and more important part of Assurance Scheme accreditation, so it is extremely important for growers to receive the right training .The theme for this round of meetings is "Water, Widgets & Wotnots".

This year you are invited to participate in an interactive training event that focuses on how to avoid things going wrong and what “best practice” actually means on the farm. Sprayer operators will have the opportunity to share tips and solutions that work for them and learn from their colleagues best practice techniques that could be adopted in the future. Following the "Water, Widgets & Wotnots” workshops operators should be able to:

  • Know where to obtain information on the correct PPE
  • Identify why it is important to keep pesticides out of the water
  • Make a list of sprays in which pesticides can get into water
  • Identify spraying equipment features which may improve performance and safety

There will also be time for operators to share tips and solutions that work for them with their colleagues and to use the ever popular "topical update" to explore:

  • Product approval
  • Legislative changes
  • Aluminium phosphate
  • The ever helpful Pesticide qualification breakdown
  • Best Practice Guides

Programme:

  • Introduction and review
  • Your Safety
  • Water - Consequences
  • Wotnots & Widgets - Sprayer Technology
  • Topical Update
  • Action Plan and Review

Delegates will receive:

  • Delegate Work Book incorporating relevant best practice guides
  • Certificate of attendance

Attendance will attract 10 CPD points for National Register of Sprayer Operators (NRoSO) members and 6 CPD points for BASIS members.

The workshops will be held all over the country.
